Tom Cochrane is a Canadian singer and songwriter who is best known for his hit songs "Life Is a Highway", "Lunatic Fringe", "Human Race" and "I Wish You Well". He fronted the Canadian rock band Red Rider and has won seven Juno Awards. He is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, an Officer of the Order of Canada, has an Honorary Doctorate from Brandon University and is an Honorary Colonel in the Canadian Air Force. In September 2009, he was inducted onto the Canadian Walk of Fame.

He released his first solo album, Hang on to Your Resistance, in 1974 before forming Red Rider.

During the 1990s, Cochrane would release four solo albums: Mad Mad World in 1991, Ragged Ass Road in 1995, Songs of a Circling Spirit in 1997 and X-Ray Sierra in 1998. His last solo album was No Stranger which was released in 2006.
